Up and At Em

Up before dawn spent time with the Lord and worked on my steps. Even though I finished my steps months ago it keeps me healthy in my recovery to work them again and again. Being a Sponsor/ Accountability Partner I work the steps weekly with my girls so as I see it I better be working them myself. Which led me to Proverbs 15 this morning. That pretty much summed it all up for me. It spoke truth to my heart and informed me I am on the path God put me on. Who would have ever thought being an Alcoholic was a gift. Not me not in a million years. I am here to tell you, it is. How else would I be able to help other alcoholics and addicts if I hadn't been one? How would they trust me or let me in? This isn't a disease that can be cured by text books or medicine, it takes someone who has been through it and come out the other side to help those still suffering. And as I help others they are helping me too. Gentle words are the tree of life, a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit, Proverbs 15:4. How true is that? I have always been so quick to anger and my weapon has always been my words my tongue could cut like a sharp knife slicing through your heart straight to your spirit. How sorry I am for so many things said out of anger and hurt to those I love most in this world. Words of hurt that can never be taken back I pray God and those affected forgive me. Being of sober mind and body is the only promise of that never happening again. Oh I still get angry of course, but I handle it much different now. With truth instead of anger and gentle words instead of cursing, even when being cursed at which I am sometimes. There are those who are still stuck, but I don't let them wake the bear in me.

Today is my day! My favorite day of the week. I have much to do today and am going to do it with joy!

Tim and I got my compost station up and functional yesterday, I am so happy with it. Now I have a place for all my yard waste and kitchen waste and can make fertilizer and grow worms. Whoo hoo! This little homestead is getting there. I am on the look out for some chickens, I hope to have some in the next couple of weeks. Our garden is growing we have squash, onions and corn up so far. Still waiting on my peppers, beans and cucumbers. I also planted some lemon and grape seeds. Our goats Billy and Betty are as cute as they can be, they have become the best of friends it's so much fun watching them play. Now, when I go out to feed them they come up to me and follow me around. So cute!

Well the time has come for me to get dressed and get busy, I hope you have a wonderful day!

With Love,

Carla Jean
